What is a blog?

Blogging can generate mixed feelings. it can be an intimidating process and can also be a most exhilarating adventure; You’d get confused about a lot of things like; what topic to write about, what platform to write on, when to write, how to write. You could also start to doubt yourself with questions like; would my content interest my readers? What if I run out of ideas? What if I run out of motivation? What if i’m not as productive and creative as all the other bloggers out there? These questions haunted my early blogging days, but in time, I grew to embrace the basics of blogging and come to terms with the answer that “it’s not that hard.” It’s not so hard to start a blog and be consistent with it.

What is a blog though?

A blog is the shortened form of the word -weblog.

A blog can be defined as a website or an online piece of content on a particular topic of interest. It can be in text or video form. These can be practically on anything including entrepreneurship, fishing, parenting, dog walking etc. If you can think of it, it can be made into a blog. The blogger (creator of the blog) shares their knowledge on specific niches and topics with members of the public, teaching them in details what they need to know about that particular niche or topic.

There are thousands of blog topics and niche to choose from. your blog can be about anything. There are so many types of blogs you could concentrate on as a beginner. You could be a;

  • Celebrity blogger: cover topics about celebrities on your blog. Talk about their lifestyle, their biographies,
  • News blogger: you could show your journalism skills through your blog, concentrating your creativity on news within your locality or even across your borders.
  • Pet blogger: if you’re a huge lover of animals, you could throw in all that love and knowledge for pets and animals into your own blog.

The list goes on and on. I’m basically trying to say that you can blog about everything and anything you like. Blogging is diverse and broad. The topics and niches to blog on are endless and in high demand all over the world.

  • Blogging is not age discriminatory: what I’m trying to say is anyone can start a blog. It does not matter how young or how old you are, if you can think it, you can write it and if you can write it, you can share it.
  • it’s not number discriminatory: You can write as much topics as you want under the canopy of blogging. Blogging does not restrict you to one topic and one topic alone. If you have interest in more than one topics, why not turn all those topics into blogs and write about them? Blogging would never limit you to one topic. It is versatile and diverse. Do what you want to do, talk about what you want to talk about as much as you want to talk about it, when you want to talk about it.
